Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaComposite Stock Price Index (JCI) closed minus 0.50% to a level of 6,109.16 at the close of trading last Wednesday (27/1/21) despite the positive sentiment projected by the IMF (International Monetary Fund) regarding the global economy.

Referring to IDX data, at the beginning of session I yesterday, the JCI had fallen below the 6,000 level or was corrected by up to 2.30%. Yesterday’s JCI’s lowest level was at 5,998, and its highest was 6,154.

Trade data noted that foreign investors made net purchases of IDR 109 billion on the regular market with a transaction value of IDR 19.5 trillion. 141 stocks appreciated, 357 corrected, 136 stagnant.

The IMF, an independent agency under the UN estimates that the world economy will grow 5.5% in 2021, reflecting an increase of 0.3 percentage points when compared to the previous projection set last October.

“Most of it now hinges on the outcome of the race between a mutated virus and a vaccine to end the pandemic, and on the ability of policies to provide effective support until that happens,” IMF chief Gita Gopinath said on her blog.

On the other hand, sentiment from within the country came from the inauguration of the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) supervisory board called the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) at the State Palace.

Binaartha Sekuritas assessed that SWF, aka the Investment Management Agency (LPI), was considered a positive catalyst for construction sector stocks, and it’s true that the stocks that strengthened yesterday were dominated by shares of state-owned construction companies.

Harum Energy recorded the highest gain yesterday amid rising global coal prices. Slow down the contract price futures (futures) ICE Newcastle thermal coal is starting to creep up. The contract price of coal that is actively transacted is getting closer to the level of US$ 90/ton.

Meanwhile, PT Mega Capital Sekuritas assessed that the weakening of the JCI was still overshadowed by rebalancing list of constituents of the LQ45 index, in which the shares of Medco Energi and PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk. (TPIA) entered as a new member of the LQ45 index.

Meanwhile the shares of PT Surya Citra Media Tbk. (SCMA) and PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk. (SRIL) was knocked out. Yesterday, MEDC shares were among the top gainers with an increase of 8.40% to the level of IDR 645/share, with transactions reaching IDR 99 billion. In the last week, MEDC’s shares were minus 7.86% but in the last month they have increased 5%.

Meanwhile, TPIA shares were stagnant at the level of IDR 10,350/share with a 10% increase in the last month.

On the other hand, one stock, namely FILM, is also among the top gainers in line with the new film release business plan. In an information disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), last Tuesday, the company owned by Manoj Punjabi said it would release My Lecturer My Husband (MLMH) Season 2.
