Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – There is news circulating among market players that film issuer PT MD Pictures Tbk (FILM) will enter into media and entertainment issuer PT Net Visi Media Tbk (NETV).
This issue arose in line with FILM’s corporate action which will issue new shares through the Capital Increase by Pre-emptive Rights (PMHMETD) scheme or rights issue.
This news made FILM and NETV stocks take off. Then who actually owns MD Pictures?
Profile of PT MD Pictures Tbk (FILM)
MD Pictures is the first film company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). These shares were traded for the first time on August 7, 2018.
At the time of the official initial public offering or IPO, FILM’s share price was Rp 280. The number of shares released to the public that year was 15% of the total number of shares listed.
MD Pictures is a company that produces a number of well-selling films and soap operas which are shown in local cinemas.
Meanwhile, MD Pictures is owned by Manoj Punjabi who was born on December 7, 1972. He is a man of Indian descent.
At first Manoj worked at Multivision Plus. Then, in 2001, when Manoj had different visions and missions with other family members, he decided to leave the company and MD Entertainment was born in 2003.
Manoj founded MD Entertainment with his father, Dhamoo Punjabi.
FILM Management Confirmation
Previously, FILM management answered questions from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) regarding transaction volatility. The IDX asks for material information or facts that can affect the value of company securities or investors’ investment decisions.
FILM Corporate Secretary Fidela Hasworini also answered that his party had submitted an advertisement for the general meeting of shareholders (GMS) in which one of the agenda items was a plan to increase capital via rights issue.
In this corporate action, FILM will issue a maximum of 1,902,243,400 new shares or 20% of the issued and fully paid capital. It is planned that the agenda will seek approval through the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders on June 9, 2023.
Then, Fidela stated that it had submitted all material information or facts. FILM has submitted various important company information on the IDX website and the company’s website related to the private placement plan as well as the Financial Report.
Regarding information/facts/other important material events, Fidela explained that the film made by MD Pictures had been successfully launched.
“The company has successfully released the film Sewu Dino, which has reached more than 4.8 million viewers,” said Fidela in an information disclosure quoted on Tuesday (6/6/2023).
Furthermore, he stated that the company was not aware of the activities of certain shareholders.
