Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Good news has come from the Indonesian film industry, where one of the bosses of Indonesian film producers met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) yesterday (9/3/2021).
Previously, the boss of PT MD Pictures Tbk (FILM), Manoj Punjabi on his Instagram status said that he was grateful to President Jokowi for being given the opportunity to have a dialogue with the President.
“THANK YOU PRESIDENT. Today we had an extraordinary opportunity to have a dialogue with President @jokowi at the Palace,” he said on Manoj Punjabi’s Instagram.
Previously, film industry players in Indonesia had sent an open letter to President Jokowi on Saturday (6/3/2021). This was done so that the film industry could resume operations as before the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the letter, industry players complained because the opening of cinemas was still not 100% normal, where people were still afraid to watch in theaters.
In addition, cases of domestic film piracy have become increasingly massive amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Cinema must be able to survive because it is where our films are met with their audiences. Film piracy must be eradicated completely because it is the potential of the digital economy to be explored by industry players and there are state revenue rights in it to develop Indonesia,” explained the contents of the open letter.
In the open letter, filmmakers also hope that the Indonesian government can provide assistance to those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We really hope that the coordination of the Indonesian government through the relevant ministries in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet and the Covid-19 Task Force will be able to provide assistance to Indonesian films through various stimulus packages, subsidies, as well as legal and health protection,” the letter continued.
Of course, this news has the potential to increase the shares of PT MD Pictures Tbk (FILM) itself. For your information, FILM shares have touched a level resistance the highest is at the level of IDR 1,590 / unit. But most recently, FILM’s shares were still down at the level of Rp. 318/unit.
