However, Punjabi acknowledged that KKN di Desa Penari was an outstanding movie and that Sewu Dino has a different, yet equally terrifying, storyline. Sewu Dino was initially talked about after it appeared in the post-credit scene of KKN di Desa Penari: Luwih Dowo Luwih Medeni, which premiered on December 29, 2022. The movie is based on a Twitter thread by the user @SimpleMan, who also wrote the story for KKN di Desa Penari.
