Not only that, MD Picture through Blue Water Films in January 2022 also managed to break a record. Film Makmum 2 directed by Dee Company and Blue Water Films, which was released at the end of the year, December 30 2021 to Friday (14/1) managed to break the record of 1.5 million viewers.
For this achievement Makmum 2 received a record from MURI as the highest-grossing film with the highest number of viewers throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. This is also a good sign for Indonesian films, which have been sluggish lately.
Manoj Punjabi, CEO & Founder of MD Pictures expressed his gratitude for the success in opening 2022 with satisfying results.
“Yes, that’s true. We give thanks, thank God to God Almighty. Break Kite exploded, the big screen also broke at 1.5 million thanks to his own efforts,” Manoj Punjabi told Tabloid bintang.com recently.
Success Makmum 2 Manoj also emphasized without financial assistance from the government through the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program. MD Picture has the belief that a film collaboration with Dee Company can get an honest market.
“Many others have asked for PEN funding from the government. There’s no need like that we can walk. It’s extraordinary that films can reach 1.5 million without government assistance, while films box office which reached 400 thousand using PEN funds,” explained Manoj Punjabi.
Manoj explained, Blue Water Films is one of the companies under the auspices of MD Pictures that is ready to help filmmakers to move forward and develop together to advance the Indonesian film industry.
“I see the breakthroughs that are always there from MD. Every time we have something new, Blue Water Films is an MD company. MD’s wing is big, we want a partner with anyone to grow up together,” explained Manoj Punjabi.
Besides Break Kite and Makmum 2MD Pictures also has several productions original series successful in service over the top (OTT) and widescreen. Going forward, MD Pictures is ready to face bigger challenges.
“MD is the number 1 film in films, not only in OTT Break Kite. There are four series owned by MD Pictures that have been successful in OTT. That’s something extraordinary. MD is still going on and won’t stop here,” concluded Manoj Punjabi.
The plan, after being delayed for a while, MD Pictures will ensure that it will show the film KKN in the Dancer Village on February 24, 2022. A horror story adapted from a true story that has gone viral on social media.
