Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – At the end of 2022, Forbes will update data on the 50 richest people in Indonesia. According to Forbes records, the total assets of the Indonesian conglomerate increased 11% to a record US$180 billion from US$162 billion last year.

The wealth of the commodity-exporting conglomerate grew in line with rising prices, while optimism for Indonesia’s economy rose to 5.3% in 2022 from 3.7% in 2021.

Forbes also noted that at least 22 Indonesian tycoons experienced growth in their net worth. However, from the Forbes list, the top 10 rankings are interesting to be in the spotlight.

The Hartono brothers, R. Budi and Michael Hartono, lead and become the richest conglomerate in Indonesia with a fortune of US$47.7 billion, up from US$5.1 billion last year. For the record, PT Global Digital Niaga Tbk. be a major contributor to the growth of their wealth.

PT Global Digital Niaga Tbk. is the holding company of e-commerce giant Blibli. The company successfully listed its shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in November 2022 and successfully raised IDR 8 trillion (US$510 million) in new funds.

The second position is occupied by Low Tuck Kwong. His wealth increased supported by rising coal prices amid the global energy crisis. His wealth almost doubled to US$12.1 billion. As a result, Low Tuck Kwong became the tycoon figure with the biggest growth in wealth last year.

His wealth increased by US $ 9.55 billion from US $ 2.55 billion last year. Low also appeared on the cover of the December issue of Forbes Asia magazine.

The third position is the Widjaja family from the Sinar Mas group. The group’s paper business helped increase its wealth by US$1.1 billion to US$10.8 billion.
