Shares Have Increased 345%, What Films Are MD Pictures Producing?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Like the film that has been talked about a lot, in the last few days the share price of PT MD Pictures Tbk has attracted a lot of investors’ attention. The share price of the company owned by Manoj Pujambi continues to climb like it can’t be stopped.

Since it was first listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on August 7 2018, FILM’s share price has increased by 345.24%, from Rp. 210/share to Rp. 935/share. Today FILM’s share price closed up 23.03% to Rp 935 per share from the previous day’s close of Rp 760 per share.

This is not the first time this company’s shares have increased, since FILM’s shares were first listed, they have risen 345.23%. The highest price was reached today, Tuesday (14/8/2018) at Rp. 950 per unit, while the lowest price was reached on Tuesday (7/8/2018) at Rp. 314 per unit.



Based on information from the IDX, the movement of film stock prices experienced an unusual increase in price, so that the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) included these shares in the Unusual Market Activity/UMA category.

MD Pictures is a company that produces films screened in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam. This company was founded in 2007 by Manoj Punjabi who currently serves as the company’s main director.

Interestingly, this company produces films that have become films with the most audiences in Indonesia, reaching 4.7 million viewers. Several films were produced such as Ayat-Ayat Cinta, Heaven that is Not Missed, Habibie & Ainun, Danur: I Can See Ghosts and Rudy Habibie.

This company is under the auspices of MD Corp which is also led by Manoj Punjabi. Apart from having a film production business, MD Corp also has music, animation and property businesses.

Each year the company targets to be able to produce 12-15 films, while until the third quarter the company has produced nine films.

Not long ago, the company also created a joint venture (JV) with two companies from China and South Korea. Next year, the joint venture will produce one film with South Korean rights.

The target is that with this joint venture, the company will produce films of a higher level and market these productions to China. Next year, the company also targets to be able to produce films in Hollywood at a cost of no less than US$ 4 million-US$ 5 million.
