Manoj Punjabi, CEO of MD Pictures as the producer of the film KKN Di Desa Penari said he was proud and grateful for his achievement. However, what makes him even more proud is that local films made by local children can surpass Doctor Strange: In Multivers of Madness by the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
According to Manoj Punjabi, KKN Di Desa Penari is a new historical record for the development of Indonesian films.
“I am very satisfied, I am satisfied that not only is this film the best-selling but the best-selling film in a pandemic. I am even more satisfied, I can win from Doctor Strange, Indonesian films have won from Marvel never before in history,” said Manoj Punjabi at MD Place, Setiabudi, South Jakarta , Saturday (21/5).
Manoj revealed that he had long dreamed of bringing up local films by becoming the king of his own country. He also doesn’t mind if other local films win.
“I know that in the future there will be another top-grossing film, hopefully it will be from MD again, even if it’s from another it’s ok this is part of the competition,” said Manoj Punjabi.
The achievement of KKN now deserves appreciation. Moreover, on the first day that Doctor Strange was shown, several cinemas in the area added to the KKN by lowering their screens.
“But for KKN to beat Doctor Strange and the screen, you can see the graph in the box office talk when Dr. Strange came on the first day of KKN with a drop screen, the drop was sadistic, from reaching 525 thousand it went down to 320 thousand.
